Scientists at Harvard University noticed that children who ate popsicles got dimples in their cheeks. After some research the scientists realized that the cold was freezing fat cells which then got eliminated. The idea that fat cells can be targeted with cold without damaging the surrounding tissue is the insight behind Cryolipolysis. After a consistent amount of follow-up research and clinical studies, the CoolSculpting procedure and technology have been developed. Today it is the only FDA approved non-surgical fat removal technology.
The 4 Stages of the CoolSculpting Procedure
Device is applied to isolate the fat cells using suction
CoolSculpting is a targeted procedure which allows body areas to be treated in a focused way. At first the device uses suction to isolate the fat cells in an area.
CoolSculpting pads will freeze the isolated fat cells
The CoolSculpting device will now deliver measured levels of low temperatures to the isolated fat cells in an area. These waves will only affect the fat cells and not the surrounding tissue.
Device is removed and a massage is given
The physician will then remove the CoolSculpting device. A localised massage will be applied to the area, which will help the process of reducing the number of fat cells that have received the low temperature treatment
The broken fat cells are absorbed naturally by the body
The body will gradually absorb the fat cells that have been treated. This is a natural process and it will take a few weeks. Generally the first results start to appear in about two weeks and they continue to develop for another few weeks*.
*Results may vary from person to person.
